Meet Dr. Merle
Dr. Leo Merle, DDS, joined LaRock Dental in October 2024 after completing his dental education at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in May 2024. Dr. Merle has been accepted as a resident at the University of Michigan Endodontics Specialty Program starting in July 2025, where he will become a root canal and microsurgery specialist. He earned bachelors degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz, conducting research in the biomedical engineering field during his 4 year program.
During the clinical days, Dr. Merle finds passion in providing a comforting and personalized experience for patients to ensure their oral health is improving, pain free, and on track to produce a more confident and vibrant smile. To stay up-to-date with the most current science and techniques, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the California Dental Association and participates in the local chapter of the Synergy Study Club.
When he is not working, Dr. Merle lives a second life as a professional athlete in track and field. He has been a fierce competitor on the track for more than 15 years, a member of the United States National team, a top 5 performer at the last 2 world championships, parapan-american champion in the 1500m, accumulating in representing the United States at the Paris 2024 Olympic/ Paralympic Games, taking 6th in his race. In his down time, he enjoys watching sports in-person, attending concerts and spending quality time with his girlfriend and friends.
